Our Lawyers

Jay is a compassionate and dedicated personal injury lawyer at Martin & Hillyer Associates, where he advocates for individuals who have been harmed by the negligence or misconduct of others. His practice focuses on personal injury litigation, including motor vehicle accidents, slip and fall cases, and sexual assault claims—both historical and recent. Jay works closely with Laura on files involving survivors of sexual abuse and assault, providing sensitive and committed legal representation.

Since being called to the Bar in 2024, Jay has developed a strong foundation in advocacy, negotiation, and legal writing. He regularly handles motions, discoveries, and dispute resolution, and brings a sharp research background to every case. Jay articled with Martin & Hillyer and was invited to return as an associate, now working alongside Laura and James as part of a dedicated litigation team.

Before joining the firm, Jay gained experience in medical malpractice and corporate/commercial law. He holds a Bachelor of Arts from McGill University (2016) and earned his law degree from the University of Leeds (2020) in the United Kingdom. He also completed the Law Practice Program (LPP) at Toronto Metropolitan University, formerly Ryerson University.

Jay is a member of both the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association (OTLA) and the Ontario Bar Association (OBA), and actively contributes to the legal community.

Outside of work, Jay lives in Etobicoke with his fiancée. A true outdoors enthusiast, he enjoys hiking, backcountry camping, fishing—especially ice fishing on Lake Simcoe—and exploring new places whenever he can.
